The Tree of Henna

                Mehendi is a paste that is used to decoration on the hands, foot and nails by applying a paste made with leaves of Henna tree.

The Art:

                Mehendi, also known as Henna, and the "Botanical name is Lawsonia inermis". In India, beautifying the body with Mehendi are normally carried out for the girl to be married during wedding and is part of the bridal decoration. It's safe and painless. It's completely natural and non-toxic. But now-a-days in the market, there are ready-made pastes available in the market, some of them are adulterated with chemicals like silver nitrate, carmine, orange dye, chromium etc. which will give more intense color but unsafe to use.  But its batter to make the paste from fresh leaves collected from the tree. It's fun, exotic, beautiful, and as simple or complicated as you want it to be. It's a 5000 year old tradition and a modern craze.

An Ancient Wedding Tradition:

               In the wedding season is Indian, weddings are noisy colorful family get-togethers, which would not be complete without the religious ceremonies, the feast for the guests, and of course, the beautiful Mehendi designs adorning the hands and feet of the bride and her friends. Mehendi, the ancient Indian body art that's reinvented itself as a modern fashion accessory.

A Craze:

               Now, Mehendi has enjoyed both a revival and a renewal. Madonna created quite a stir at the MTV awards function, when she turned up with mehendi all over her body. Mehendi tattoos becoming a white-hot fashion trend. Now it is not just hands and feet that are adorned, but also the arms, neck, back and navel. The magic is no longer confined to just women - men sport mehendi tattoos too. The traditional reddish-brown color has been enhanced by a variety of shades (contrasts of black, red and maroon) and glitters (highlights of gold, silver or copper). Best of all, no longer is mehendi reserved for occasions like weddings - it's worn to a Valentine's Day bash, a formal party or even an evening at the disco!

पुनर्जागरण के अग्रदूत राजा राममोहन राय

        आज हम जिस युग में जी रहे हैं उसकी कल्पना समाज के महापुरुषों के बिना अधूरी है. जो लोग दूसरों की सेवा और समाज सेवा करने का जोखिम उठाते भी हैं वह भी अपने मतलब के लिए ही यह कार्य करते हैं. इतिहास के कई स्वर्णिम पन्नों पर हमें ऐसे महापुरुष भी हुए.जिन्होंने अपनी क्षमता, दूरदर्शिता और सूझबूझ से देश को नई राह दी. इतिहास के पन्नों को अगर पलटा जाए तो कुछ ऐसे नायक भी आएंगे जिन्हें देखकर आपको लगेगा कि हां यही हैं असली लोकनायक, समाजसेवक और आदर्श शख्सियत. ऐसे ही एक व्यक्ति थे राजा राममोहन राय. आधुनिक भारत के निर्माता राजा राममोहन राय ऐसे बहुआयामी समाजसेवी थे जिन्होंने अकेले दम पर सदियों से रूढि़यों में जकड़े भारतीय समाज के सुधार के लिए विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में काम किया.
         राममोहन राय अपनी विलक्षण प्रतिभा से समाज में फैली कुरीतियों के परिष्कारक और ब्रह्म समाज के संस्थापक के रूप में निर्विवाद रूप से प्रतिष्ठित हैं. राजा राममोहन राय सिर्फ सती प्रथा का अंत कराने वाले महान समाज सुधारक ही नहीं, बल्कि एक महान दार्शनिक और विद्वान भी थे.

संक्षिप्त जीवन परिचय:--
         राजा राममोहन राय का जन्म बंगाल के मुर्शिदाबाद जिले में 22 मई, 1772 को ब्राह्मण रमाकांत राय के घर हुआ था. बचपन से ही उन्हें भगवान पर भरोसा था लेकिन वह मूर्ति पूजा के विरोधी थे. कम उम्र में ही वह साधु बनना चाहते थे लेकिन माता का प्रेम इस रास्ते में बाधा बना. परंपराओं में विश्वास करने वाले रमाकांत चाहते थे कि उनके बेटे को ऊंची तालीम मिले. इसके लिए कम उम्र में ही राममोहन राय को पटना भेज दिया गया. वहां जाकर उन्होंने अंग्रेजी शिक्षा प्राप्त की और समाज में बदलाव की लहर लाने का निश्चय किया. राजा राममोहन राय को मुग़ल सम्राट अकबर द्वितीय की ओर से 'राजा' की उपाधि दी गई थी.
         वह संस्कृत और हिंदी भाषा में दक्ष थे, वहीं अंग्रेजी, ग्रीक, बांग्ला और फारसी भाषा में भी बेहद निपुण थे. उन्होंने वेदों और उपनिषदों को विश्व जनमानस तक पहुंचाने के लिए इनका बांग्ला हिंदी, फारसी और अंग्रेजी भाषा में अनुवाद किया. इन भाषाओं में उन्होंने कई ग्रंथों की रचना भी की.

प्रथा में बदलाव की राह:--
          जब उनकी भाभी को सती होने के लिए बाध्य किया गया तो वे उनकी कारुणिक अवस्था से विचलित और द्रवित हो उठे. इस दर्दनाक घटना ने उन पर ऐसा असर डाला कि उन्होंने इस अमानवीय प्रथा को खत्म करने की ठान ली. उनके पूर्ण और निरन्तर समर्थन का ही प्रभाव था, जिसके कारण लॉर्ड विलियम बैंण्टिक 1829 में सती प्रथा को बन्द कराने में समर्थ हो सके. सती प्रथा के मिटने से राजा राममोहन राय संसार के मानवतावादी सुधारकों की सर्वप्रथम पंक्ति में आ गए. राजा राममोहन राय को मुग़ल सम्राट अकबर द्वितीय की ओर से 'राजा' की उपाधि दी गयी थी.
          उन्होंने अनुभव किया कि अगर समाज की महिलाओं को शिक्षित किया जाए तो समाज सुधार में निश्चित सफलता मिलेगी. उन्होंने सरकार से मिलकर महिलाओं के लिए उच्च शिक्षा प्रवर्तन के विद्यालय स्थापित कराए. इसी तरह केशवचंद्र सेन, ईश्वरचंद्र विद्यासागर के साथ ऐंग्लो वैदिक स्कूलों एवं महाविद्यालयों की स्थापना कराई.

ब्रह्म समाज:--
          हिन्दू समाज की कुरीतियों के घोर विरोधी होने के कारण सन 1828 में उन्होंने 'ब्रह्म समाज' की स्थापना की. सती प्रथा को रोकना ही नहीं राजा राममोहनराय ने देश में मूर्ति पूजा, प्रेस की आजादी जैसे विभिन्न सामाजिक पहलुओं की तरफ भी जागरुकता पैदा की.
          ब्रह्म समाज के संस्थापक राममोहन राय, अपनी विलक्षण प्रतिभा से समाज में फैली कुरीतियों के परिष्कारक और ब्रह्म समाज के संस्थापक के रूप में निर्विवाद रूप से प्रतिष्ठित हैं. राजा राममोहन राय सिर्फ सती प्रथा का अंत कराने वाले महान समाज सुधारक ही नहीं, बल्कि एक महान दार्शनिक और विद्वान भी थे.

निधन:--
            ब्रह्म समाज तथा आत्मीय सभा के संस्थापक तथा आजीवन रूढि़वादी रिवाजों को दूर करने के लिए प्रयासरत राममोहन राय का 27 सितंबर, 1833 को ब्रिस्टल इंग्लैंड में निधन हो गया. महिला जागृति एवं सशक्तीकरण के उनके प्रयास आज भी सराहे जाते हैं.

  Rubik's Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974, Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik. Originally the Rubik's cube, called the Magic Cube.

                          In a Rubik's Cube, each of the six faces is covered by nine stickers, each of one of six solid colors (white, red, blue, orange, green, and yellow).An internal pivot mechanism enables each face to turn independently, thus mixing up the colors.For the solution of puzzle, each face must be returned to consisting of one color.

                       A standard Rubik's Cube measures 5.7 cm (approximately 2¼ inches) on each side. The puzzle consists of twenty-six unique miniature cubes, also called "cubies" or "cubelets".
